Unlearning your distractedness

9.20.2011 | All Blog Posts, Contemplation and Meditation

There’s a big difference between being awake and being aware, alert, or conscious to what’s really going on around and within you.

Consider a baby. When a baby’s awake, she’s also present. She’s not learned enough to be distracted. She takes in everything around her, absorbing what’s coming to her at the moment. It’s little wonder Jesus said, “Unless you change and become like a little child, you cannot enter the kingdom of God” (Matthew 18.3).

Hi Chris.
I am learning to navigate my way around your site. I really like what I have seen.

I am working to unlearn my distractedness lately. Thanks for your help, through your posts. I appreciate people like you who take the time to share your wisdom.

Nice to “meet” you. Perhaps we will actually meet someday. I am an MFCC student at FPUBS.

Thank you, Kim. Glad you’re walking around the site and that it’s helpful. Hope to meet sometime. Keep your eye open for our annual Prayer of the Heart conference at UPC the second weekend of February. A great event for deepening the life of prayer.
